Nandor came to us after a member of the public saved him from wandering the streets after his original owner passed away.
Unfortunately, before they came to his rescue, he had been trying to go back to the house he once knew as home and quite rudely been told to leave.
He didn’t understand what was happening.
As you can see from his picture, Nandor has one eye that is darker than the other.
The vets said this is from an old injury, and no treatment is required.
Nandor also has a very high-pitched squeak (sorry, meow)- which you don’t expect from his tough looking exterior! Because of this, we believe that Nandor has experienced trauma to his head.
He also is very wary of people to begin with and can be especially cautious when you try to touch his head area.
We wish he could talk to us so we could know what happened to us, and that he could understand and believe us when we say no one will ever hurt him again.
Staff have been working with him since he came in and have seen massive progress.
The best way to his heart is through food! Which was evident from his weight when he came in and has been on a diet to shed some of the extra pounds.
But despite this, he still gets treated to chicken because how could you say no to that handsome face!
Nandor can take a while to build a bond, but once he does, he loves rubbing against your legs and after time will even start to accept pets! While he has made great progress while being in out care, we know that what Nandor really needs is a proper home of his own.
Nandor will need a very special home.
He would love to live somewhere rural, but not quite semi-feral living.
He would love a barn out in the countryside where he can live in the home but have the understanding that he will be more of a roommate than a lap cat.
He will be best left alone to his own devices, where he can have an explore outside and come back for food, and someone who will have patience with him.
We do think that down the line, Nandor will build a bond with someone who gives him the time and understanding that he needs and will start to show a more affectionate side.
He would also need to be the only animal in the home, and that there are no children.
Questions.. Questions.. We know there’s a fair few. But, the more information we can gather from you now, the quicker we can match you to this pet or another one. A few minutes of your time now will also allow us to spend more time with the animals when you come to the sanctuary.
Your generous contributions make a huge difference to the animals we care for and also helps us to continue our work & success.
